Four first-time captains Lexi Kilfoyl, Taylor McQuillin, Amanda Lorenz and Skylar Wallace drafted their teams for Week Two of the 2024 Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball season during Monday’s draft.
Week Two begins on Friday, August 2, at 11:30 a.m. ET / 10:30 a.m. CT as Team Lorenz takes on Team McQuillin. Fans can follow the play-by-play here and follow along on social as the game will not be broadcast. Then, tune in at 7:30 p.m. ET / 6:30 p.m. CT as Team Kilfoyl takes on Team Wallace on ESPNU.
Here is a list of notes and tidbits related to the AU Pro Softball Week Two draft.
- Pitchers Lexi Kilfoyl and Taylor McQuillin, outfielder Amanda Lorenz and middle infielder Skylar Wallace are making their debuts as Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball captains … There have now been 37 players to serve as a team captain in Championship Season history
- Seven of the 33 previous team captains authored a 3-0 record in their first week as a team leader.
- Lorenz will be wearing the Blue jersey for the fourth time in the last six weeks dating back to last season … The former Florida standout has worn the Blue top seven times in 17 all-time Championship Season weeks.
- McQuillin earned a spot on the Orange team for the seventh time in her AU Pro Softball Championship Season career after earning the captain’s role for the squad in Week Two.
- Pitchers accounted for five of the first eight selections in the Week Two draft, including all four picks in the first round.
- Middle infielders were selected with all four picks during the fourth round, while team captains drafted an outfielder for every selection in the 11th round.
- Pitcher Megan Faraimo was selected with the first overall pick in Monday’s Week Two draft, marking the second time she has been taken with the top choice in her career … The former UCLA product was chosen No. 1 overall in Week Four last season by Team Davidson.
- Catcher Sharlize Palacios was the first rookie selected in the Week Two draft, going sixth overall to Team McQuillin … Sharlize Palacios rose 17 spots in the draft order after being picked by Team Svekis in the sixth round (No. 23 overall) in Week One.
- Outfielder Victoria Hayward was selected by Team Lorenz in the 10th round on Monday, marking the 11th time in 22 career weeks she will wear the Blue jersey … Hayward’s 11 weeks in a Blue jersey are the most of any player in a single jersey color in AU Pro Softball Championship Season history.
- Outfielder Erika Piancastelli will don the Orange jersey for the ninth time in her AU Pro Softball career, including the fifth time in the last seven weeks … She has worn the Orange jersey more than any other color in her five AU seasons.
- Outfielder Aliyah Andrews was selected to wear the Gold jersey for the third time in the last four weeks dating back to last season.
- Catcher Taylor Edwards earned a spot on the Gold team after being picked by Team Kilfoyl to begin the second round … It will mark just the second time Edwards dons the Gold top in her AU Pro Softball Championship Season career … She also wore the Gold jersey in Week Two last season with Team Garcia.
- Middle infielder Hannah Flippen is wearing the Blue jersey for the ninth time in her AU Pro Softball Championship Season career, including the third week in a row.
- Middle infielder Sis Bates made the largest move up the draft board in Week Two … After being selected with the No. 55 pick in Week One, the former Washington standout was taken by Team Kilfoyl with the first pick of the sixth round (No. 21 overall) in Monday’s Week Two draft.
- Catcher Sashel Palacios also made a significant jump in the draft order during the Week Two draft … Palacios was picked with the first pick of the third round (No. 9 overall) by Team Wallace after being the 35th overall pick in Week Two.
- Catcher Mia Davidson and pitcher Mariah Mazon had the largest drop in their draft positions in the Week Two draft, falling 27 spots from their Week One selection … Davidson, who was selected No. 5 overall in Week One, was Team Wallace’s pick in the eighth round … Mazon, meanwhile, was taken with the 31st overall selection by Team Lorenz on Monday after going No. 4 overall in Week One.
- Davidson will be a member of the Purple team for the third time in her last four weeks dating back to last season.
- Outfielder Caroline Jacobsen will be wearing the Purple jersey for the third consecutive week.
- Middle infielder Aubrey Leach was selected to play for the Orange team for the seventh time in her AU Pro Softball Championship Season career after being taken by Team McQuillin in the ninth round … She has worn the Orange jersey more than any other color in her Championship Season tenure.
- Catcher Jordan Roberts will be wearing the Blue jersey for just the second time in her AU Pro Softball Championship Season career after being selected by Team Lorenz in the seventh round … The first time Roberts donned the Blue top was during Week One during the 2021 season.
- Corner infielder Tori Vidales was selected to the Blue team for the seventh time in her Championship Season career, the most of any jersey color … She has worn the Blue jersey in three of the last four weeks dating back to last season.
- Corner infielder Jessi Warren is a member of the Orange squad for the eighth time in her four Athletes Unlimited Pro Softball Championship Seasons, which are the most of any jersey color.
- Outfielder Morgan Zerkle received her eighth career selection to the Purple team after being taken by Team Wallace in the ninth round.
- Pitcher Odicci Alexander will wear the Orange jersey for just the third time in her four AU Pro Softball Championship Seasons after being taken by Team McQuillin … It is the first time she has worn Orange since Week Two last season.
