Personal: Fortunato considers wearing the USA jersey and playing alongside the best players in the world as her greatest achievement. She began playing lacrosse in the fourth grade and was ranked as the No. 1 rising senior by Inside Lacrosse in 2012 and 2013. Off the field, Fortunato enjoys skiing and has been doing it since she was three years old. Both of her parents were collegiate athletes, with her mother competing on the swimming and diving team at Ohio University and her father playing baseball at Clark University. Fortunato majored in psychology at Notre Dame with a double minor in business and education and also earned her Master's degree in business from the same university.
2022 Season: Fortunato started in all 12 games and scored 807 leaderboard points. She had a season-high of 167 leaderboard points in a game against Team Arsenault. Fortunato ranked seventh in the league with 17 goals and fifth in Athletes Unlimited with three two-point goals. She scored at least one goal in the final 10 games, including four goals in the Week Two opener against Team Arsenault. Fortunato also scored a two-point goal in three consecutive games and had a total of seven goals in the first two games of Week Two.
2021 Season: Fortunato accumulated 1,355 leaderboard points. She tied for the league lead with 10 games of 100 or more points and was the seventh-leading scorer in Athletes Unlimited with 37 points. Fortunato tied for sixth in the league with 25 goals, including three two-pointers. She had eight multi-goal performances, including two hat tricks. Fortunato attempted 62 shots, ranking seventh in the league. She scored at least one goal in 13 out of 15 games and had a standout performance of five goals against Team Wood.
International Experience: Fortunato has international experience as a member of the United States Senior National Team from 2014-15 and 2016-17. She also helped the United States win the 2011 Under-19 Championship and was selected to the All-World Team.
Other Professional Experience: Fortunato played two seasons with the Baltimore Brave in the Women's Professional Lacrosse League and one year with the Long Island Sound in the United Women's Lacrosse League.
At Notre Dame: Fortunato was a four-year letter winner who appeared in 79 games from 2014-17. She ranks third on the Fighting Irish's career games played list and is one of two players in the program's history with 300 or more career points. Fortunato is the second-leading goal scorer in program history with 225 goals and stands third in school history with 86 assists. She also recorded 106 ground balls, 52 draw controls, and 95 caused turnovers. Fortunato is the only player in Notre Dame history to earn four IWLCA All-America commendations and garnered First-Team honors as a sophomore and junior. She was also a three-time nominee for the Tewaaraton Award and a three-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference performer.
