Maya Caldwell

Biography
Personal: The daughter of Bernard and Patricia Caldwell, Maya Caldwell is one of five children. She graduated from Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies and pursued a master’s degree in non-profit management and leadership. In high school, she was a two-sport athlete who also played tennis.
Other Professional Experience: Caldwell was selected by the Indiana Fever with the 33rd overall pick in the 2021 WNBA Draft. She is a three-year WNBA veteran who has played in 64 career games with 14 starts. She owns career averages of 4.5 points and 1.5 rebounds per game and made her WNBA debut with the Atlanta Dream in 2022. In 2022, she saw action in nine games, including seven starts, contributing 10.9 points and 2.4 rebounds per contest. She tallied 10 or more points in six of nine appearances, including a season-high 18 points against Dallas on June 21, 2022. Before the 2023 season, she was acquired by Indiana and appeared in 30 games with one start. In 2024, she returned to Atlanta and played in 25 games with six starts, averaging 5.2 points and 1.8 rebounds per outing, including a career-high 19 points against Seattle on July 14, 2024. She also notched 13 points against Las Vegas on July 12, 2024.
Caldwell opened her professional career playing for SPAR Gran Canaria in Spain during the 2021-22 campaign, contributing 15.5 points and 5.1 rebounds per contest while seeing action in 26 games. During the 2024-25 Women’s EuroCup season, she played six games for Spar Girona, scoring 6.7 points per game while grabbing 2.7 rebounds per outing.
At Georgia: Caldwell was a four-year letter winner at Georgia, starting 72 of 121 career games for the Bulldogs from 2017-21. She netted 838 career points with 374 rebounds and 172 assists. As a senior, she started in all 28 games, posting an 8.3 scoring average and grabbing 3.6 rebounds per outing. She scored a career-high 27 points at Florida to close the regular season and was named to the 2021 Southeastern Conference All-Tournament Team after averaging 19.5 points per game against Kentucky and Texas A&M. As a junior, she earned a starting assignment in 30 games, compiling 9.8 points and 3.7 rebounds per contest. She scored in double figures 17 times during the 2019-20 campaign, including seven of the final 11 outings. She finished her sophomore year averaging 5.4 points and 3.0 rebounds per appearance. As a freshman in 2017-18, she saw action in all 33 games, knocking down a team-best 40.4 percent of her three-point field goal attempts while chipping in 4.5 points per outing. On December 12, 2017, she posted 20 points against Howard, becoming the first Georgia freshman to hit 20 or more points in a game since 2014.
